Wine House
The Bodegas Salentein was founded in 1997 by the Dutchman M. Pon, but is 100% Argentinian. José 'Pepe' Galante is in charge of winemaking here. Salentein guarantees wines of exceptional quality in many price categories.
Primus
Because only the very best is good enough, Salentein Primus wines are only released in years when the wine is of exceptional quality. Only grapes from small, specially selected plots of vineyards in the Uco Valley are used.
Vinification
The grapes for this Primus are given a cold soak at 10 degrees Celsius upon entering the wine cellar. The temperature is then increased to 28 degrees so that the fermentation process starts. Once all sugars have been converted into alcohol, the wine matures for another 10 months in French oak. Finally, the wine is bottled, but without filtering, only the heavy particles remain at the bottom of the barrel, so no flavor is lost during filtering.
Origin
Primus' Pinot Noir is harvested from the 'La Pampa' and the 'San Pablo' estate. The good drainage of the soil and the low fertility of the land push the grapes to the limit to ripen, ultimately resulting in this beautiful monovarietal.
