Salentein Numina Malbec 2021
Salentein Numina Malbec
This Malbec goes fantastic with beautiful game dishes or grilled red meat, but is also delicious with aged cheese.
The Salentein estate consists of more than 2,000 hectares, of which more than 800 hectares are planted with grape vines. In addition to the vineyard, the estate has a 'state of the art' wine cellar where José Galate, head winemaker, makes unique Argentinian wines with modern and classic vinification techniques.
Numina means 'the soul of the vineyard'. This wine series is made from the oldest vines of the 'El Oasis Estate'.
Hand-picked and carefully selected, the grapes for this Numina arrive in the wine cellar, where the grapes first receive a cold soak. During fermentation, the must floats on top of the juice. By siphoning the juice back over the must, maximum extraction is achieved and all the beautifully powerful fruit flavors and tannins end up in the wine.
The Malbec does very well in a warm and long growing season, 'El Oasis' offers these conditions and gives the grapes the opportunity to obtain full aromatic and phenolic ripeness. The soil is slightly poor in organic matter, which forces the vine to root in deeper soil layers and this has a positive effect on the aroma development in the grape.
