Domaine Bousquet Malbec Reserve 2022
Domaine Bousquet Malbec Reserve
This wine consists of Malbec grapes, supplemented with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. The wine was aged for 10 months in French oak, followed by another 4 months in the bottle.
Violet in color, almost black, typical of a top quality Argentinian malbec. Intense refined aromas of black fruit and a certain spiciness form the bouquet. A very balanced elegant wine that expresses itself in an expression of pure fruit with raspberries, blackberries and figs with a clear note of chocolate and a special minerality. Good acidity with a smooth mouthfeel and excellent structure and length.
Ideal to combine with pasta, red meat, cheese and chocolate.
Jean Bousquet grew up in a wine family near Carcassonne in France. When he was 48, he was looking for a place in the New World to start a new wine company. It eventually became the Uco Valley, 70 km south of Mendoza near the town of Tupungato. According to him, the location at 1200 meters close to the Andes and the poor, sandy soil with pebbles was the ideal terroir for quality wines. It turned out to be a golden opportunity.
In 1997, the Uco Valley was an arid plain at the foot of the Andes. Jean Bousquet and some pioneers saw the possibilities for viticulture here. The relatively cool climate, low rainfall and high luminosity are ideal for the cultivation of wine grapes.
Jean Bousquet is a hardworking Frenchman who has found his niche in the Tupungato. Bousquet's style is characterized by the expression of the terroir with an eye for finesse and elegance.
