In two decades since his first vintage release, Bibi Graetz has become one of the leading winemakers in Tuscany. This is mainly due to the excellent quality of its sangiovese grapes. Bibi Graetz uses old vines, which give his best red wines depth and soul. Red grapes are grown on the hills above Florence and come from prime locations in the Chianti Classico region, such as Montefili and Lamole.
“Testamatta” – “crazy head” in Italian – is the best word to describe Bibi Graetz: a positive, creative and passionate person. Testamatta wine expresses the purity, minerality and transparency of Sangiovese from old vines. A Supertuscan made from 100% Sangiovese, the result of the combination of tradition and creativity.
Three new elements characterize the 2020 vintage. One of them is the climate. The best vineyards have never expressed themselves as well as in 2020. The new vineyards in Olmo, which have given the wines incredible freshness. It has a magical terroir at an altitude of 420 meters. The third element is the new winery in Fiesole in which they have managed to work in a more evolved and comfortable way. They now have all the tools they need to create the Testamatta and Colore they want.
