The Manor Meander Merlot Le Bonheur

Aromas of dark fruits, such as blackcurrants, black cherries and plums, along with subtle hints of vanilla and spices. On the tongue the wine is full and velvety, with flavors of black cherries, chocolate and a hint of tobacco. A luxurious wine with a rich and complex character.

The tannins are soft and silky, giving the wine a long and structured finish. This is a wonderful wine to serve with red meat dishes, game, stews or mature cheeses.

Le Bonheur Estate has approximately 163 hectares of land and is situated along the slopes of the Klapmuts hill in Stellenbosch. The history of the winery dates back to the end of the 18th century. It was then owned by the first owner Jacob Isak De Villiers. The grape varieties planted are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.

Only the best Merlot grapes are selected. Before fermentation, the grapes are cooled in stainless steel tanks. During fermentation, the wine is carefully pumped every day. The result is a delicate soft wine with red fruit and supple tannins.

The main grapes selected for this wine come from the oldest Merlot vineyard on the estate, planted in 1985. The altitude, old vineyards and very special soils have all contributed to Le Bonheurs' reputation as the leader of Merlot wines in Stellenbosch . This wine is a tribute to the historic mansion of the French Huguenot family De Villiers, which owned the estate for many years. The beautiful monument is still in perfect condition and honors the heritage of a special era of Stellenbosch. The road to this mansion is surrounded by Merlot vineyards.
