The wines of Groot Lucky are made at the renowned Rietvallei winery. Rietvallei is one of the oldest wine farms in Robertson and is located in the Klaas Voogds area. The history of Rietvallei starts in 1864 when Alwyn Burger bought the farm. He was also the first wine producer to make red Muscadel. Today it is Johnny Burger, the fifth generation, who owns the winery. Johnny took over the company from his father in 1970 and learned the tricks of the trade not from his father, but from an employee. The sixth generation also works within the company.
