The 15th century Château Couronneau is located in the eastern part of the Bordeaux wine region. In recent years, the Piat family have put a lot of effort into maintaining the château, the gardens, the vineyards and the cellar. The area surrounding the village of Ligueux, to which the château belongs, is relatively flat. Château Couronneau is located at an altitude of 180 meters. The more than 38 hectares of vineyards are found on a clay-limestone soil. The planting of blue grapes, mainly Merlot, covers approximately 35 hectares. The remaining 3 hectares have a 50/50 ratio of Sauvignon Gris and Sauvignon Blanc.

Christophe Piat is the winemaker. The basement looks more modern than you might expect from the outside. Christophe wants the best of the best when it comes to work in the vineyard and in the cellar. No ultra heavy wines, no wines that are drinkable and affordable. In his pursuit of optimal quality, he opted for sustainable viticulture.
