Wine House
Bodegas Salentein was founded in 1997 by the Dutch businessman and visionary Mijndert Pon. Salentein is partly responsible for the strong rise of Argentinian wines in the Netherlands and is also the basis of top-quality wines.
Barrel Selection
The Barrel Selection from Salentein is characterized by aging in oak barrels. On the one hand, maturing in wooden barrels gives the wine more structure and flavor, but it also causes the wine to lose its sharp edges. The exception is the Sauvignon Blanc, which is not aged in wood and only has the title 'Selection'.
Vinification
The wine cellar of Bodegas Salentein excels in efficiency. After a precise selection process, the grapes are destemmed and transported by gravity to the lower wine cellar. Here the pulp ferments for 13 days at a temperature of 27 degrees. 6 months of aging in oak barrels gives this wine its beautiful wood-aged taste.
Origin
The vineyards are located in the heart of Alto Valle de Uco, Argentina, more than 1200 meters above sea level. The soil consists of coarse rock, which provides perfect water drainage. The nights are cool due to descending air from the Andes and the days are sunny and warm. All this gives the wine its unique fruity and ripe characteristics.
