Southern Right Sauvignon Blanc 2024
Southern Right Sauvignon Blanc
Excellent as an aperitif, but also delicious with tasty snacks from oysters to salmon and fish pâté. This is also a good match with light fish dishes such as smoked salmon and shrimps or a summer salad with goat cheese or chicken.
Southern Right, part of Hamilton Russell, is a small Pinotage and Sauvignon Blanc specialist on a beautiful 448 hectare estate in the cool, maritime appellation Hemel en Aarde Valley, just behind the old fishing village of Hermanus. The wines are named after the rare Southern Right whales, which often visit the cool South Atlantic Walker Bay, 3 kilometers from the vineyards.
Traditional vinification. A small part (8%) of the wine then matures in neutral oak barrels.
Southern Right is located in the Hemel en Aarde Valley at the southernmost tip of South Africa. There is a cool, maritime climate and the specific soil consists of stone, shale and clay. These soils are most suitable for making a classic style of wine. The winery makes terroir-driven wines with a focus on Sauvignon Blanc and Pinotage.
